Chuck Lacy has practiced law in Southwest Virginia since 1978. Over the course of nearly five decades, he’s earned a reputation as a strong advocate, a calm presence, and someone you can trust to be honest, clear, and capable, no matter the situation.

Chuck earned his B.A. in Economics from Virginia Tech in 1973 and his J.D. from the University of Virginia in 1978. He is AV® Preeminent™ rated by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest possible peer rating for both legal ability and ethical standards.

His practice focuses on estate planning, personal injury, and DUI defense — areas where clients are often vulnerable or in crisis. His approach is thorough, strategic, and compassionate.

Chuck brings a great deal of leadership experience to his practice and philosophy. He served in the Virginia House of Delegates from 1983 to 1987. During that time, he was a member of the Courts of Justice, Health, Welfare and Institutions, and Labor and Commerce Committees. He has also served on the Board of Governors of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association and the Board of Directors of the Virginia Poverty Law Center.

He’s active in the local community through the Wytheville Rotary Club and the Wytheville Volunteer Fire Department. He has also served in leadership roles at his longtime church home, Wytheville Presbyterian Church.

Chuck is deeply committed to helping people through life’s most difficult moments, not only as a lawyer, but as a human being. That commitment led him to pursue several semesters of pastoral counseling training at Loyola University, including a semester-long sabbatical from his law practice to deepen those skills. Today, that training informs how he practices: with empathy, presence, and a steady hand when it matters most.
